Manga Messiah Takes top French Prize

The French-language editions of Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis – entitled Manga Le Messie and Manga La Métamorphose and distributed by BLF Europe – were the 2010 winners of the annual International Prize for French Language Christian Comics (Le prix international de la bande dessinée chrétienne francophone). Both graphic novels are 288 pages with full color artwork by Kozumi (”Kelly”) Shinozawa of Japan.

The prize was received by a representative of BLF Europe at the Angoulême Comics Festival (Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême) in January. This festival has been called “the graphic novel’s equivalent of the Oscars” in France.

Spanish Metamorphosis & English Mutiny

The Spanish version of Manga Metamorphosis is nearly complete. Manga Mutiny is also close to being released in US bookstores. The official release date is September of this year but it may show up in stores even earlier than that!

NEXT Manga is now on Facebook!

Greetings fans! We here at NEXT are happy to announce that we’re now on Facebook! We’ve created the group NEXT manga so that fans all over the world can connect with each other. Final Manga Video Winners Announced!

After much deliberation, the NEXT judges have decided on the final video winners for the video competition! Kevin Schulthies of Canada and Yanette Scott of the USA will both receive an exclusive gold edition of the popular graphic novel Manga Messiah. Schulthies entry (The Manga Messiah Outreach Awareness Video) covered the distribution of 1,300 Manga Messiah books in Karuizawa Japan last December. Scott’s entry, entitled Manga Messiah: Ever Day, ran a collage of stills from the book set to the tune of a favorite song.

Both videos, along with Percy Cesar Mamani Vilca’s entry entitled Manga Messiah, can be viewed on Youtube. All three winners will receive limited-edition hardcover versions of the graphic novel. Each book will have a gold foil-stamped title as well as the winner’s name. A small original sketch by Manga Messiah artist Kozumi Shinozawa will also be given. New: English Version Of Manga Mutiny!

It’s official…the English version of Manga Mutiny has gone to press. Unlike the first two books, Mutiny will center around the lives of the Old Testament Patriarchs. It begins with the Creation story in Genesis and will span all the way to the Red Sea crossing in Exodus. Readers can expect to see various stories including the Fall of Man, the story of Abraham and the story of Joseph.

1st Video Competition Winner Announced!

For the past several months, NEXT has hosted a Manga Messiah video competition. The first of several winners, Percy Cesar Mamani Vilca from Peru, has been informed that his video was the first prize-winning selection. The judges for the contest include the director of the design department where Manga Messiah was produced, the artist who illustrated Manga Messiah, and the executive responsible for overseeing the project’s production. There will two more prizes awarded in the competition which finishes on March 4 of this year. Congratulations Percy! UPDATE: NEXT is still in the process of declaring the next two winners. 1.8 Million In Print!

With only three books in the series, there’s already more than 1.8 million copies in print. The 1st book of the series, Manga Messiah, is now availble in 20 languages.
